It sholed be resolved, but basically is not...

It seems that changing the MS-Outlook international setting to UTF-8 solved the issue.

 

But it is not possible to change that setting in enterprise organization!

Hi Team,

 

  we have total three SMG 8380 Applicances and now we would like to configure like below.

one appliance is for Control center and two applicances for Scanners and it should be configured in HA.

if any one scanner fails second scanner should take care of all the load.

all the quarantine mails should be saved in control centere applicance.

need help in configuration part like above.

appriciate your help on this

Messagelabs delaying email

Hi Everyone,

New to the forum and hope to be using the forum on a frequent basis. I have a quick question. A hosted client of ours has had a few emails recently that appear to have been stuck with messagelabs for over an hour. I have checked the internet headers on the mail and it leaves the senders domain, enters messagelabs domain and then moves into the recipients domain over an hour later. I didnt want to paste in the entire internet header details for security puropses... but below is the messagelabs part...

Please could someone advise as to why this is happening. It seems to be from one particular sender.

Brightmail setup for a simple Exchange 2007 installation

Hello

I run Exchange 2007 on Server 2008 R2.

Exchange had problems two weeks ago.  We had to use a powershell commands to erase send and receive connectors.  I rebuilt both connectors, but I cannot send mails anymore.

It has something to do with my Brightmail server.

This server is a virtual appliance on VMWare, has Inbound and Outbound.

 

I need a step by step guide to setup Exchange 2007 for Brightmail

Unable to generate Virus Report from Brightmail

Hi All,

Good Day!

We have SMG appliance 8380 running software version 9.5.3-3. 

I am trying to generate virus reports. However, I can only get the summary report. When I try to get more details like 'Top Senders' or 'Top Recepients', It throws the error "No data is available for the report type and time range specified".

Below are my Report Settings:

Also I get the below error when generating more specific reports:

Please let me know if I need to do any additional configuration to get this report.

For TLS implementation, let say only for 1 domain.

 

1) We have to give them our cert then they will pass their cert also right?

 

2) Also if we have IronPort as MX holder infront of SBG, do we need to installe cert into SBG too?

Messaging Gateway Combined Message Queue is too Large

We are on version  10.0.2.

For the first time I received a notification about the messaging queue being too large. Below is the message I received.

The combined message queue for the following Scanners is larger than 102400 KB

 I have checked the messaging queue and searched the filter with the below criteria:

 Host: SMG

 Queue: Delivery

 Route: All

 List: All

And I only see one message in the queue with size 22409.

What is the recommended action to take when receiving this message?

SALUDOS,

MI PROBLEMA ES QUE CUANDO SELECCIONO UN EMAIL Y LE DOY A LA OPCION DE LIBERAR EMAIL. ME MUESTRA ESTE ERROR:

No se puede liberar el mensaje. Ya se ha liberado anteriormente o se produjo un error de envío. Consulte el registro de Brightmail para obtener detalles.

Y EN ESTADO DE ENVIO ME PONE CORREO ENVIADO COMO NO SPAM. Y PERMANENE EN LA LISTA DE QUARENTENA.

Y NO SE ENVIA AL BUZON CORRESPONDIENTE.  ESTO NECESITA ALGUNA CONFIGURACION ESPECIAL? YA QUE ENTIENDO LO HACE AUTOMATICO, TENGO PREVIAMENTE CONFIGURADOR EL LDP Y LA AUTENTUCACION.

I want to do PORT MIRROR (for replicate the traffic) from old mail gateway(Which is currently in production).
 
Has anyone done this before?

I need a solution

Hello, I have a problem when deliveryng emails to traxys.com. When tracking them apears this error "454 4.4.4 [Internal] no Mx or A for domain". I went to Utilities and used Nslookup and It was resolved OK.

Is there someone who knows how to solve this?.

Change IP Address of Appliance

I need a solution

Hi Guys,

I run version 10.0.2, and I'm having all sorts of fun trying to change my adapters IP address.

Basically the servers internal. I am now trying to put it public facing.

I've done the following:

  1. delete osconfig & reboot
  2. re-enter ip info
  3. server comes up on new ip, but configuration->host->ethernet lists wrong ip. Even though ifconfig in console is correct.
  4. I use the web interface to set the new ip, this reverts it to the old ip, which also changes ifconfig
  5. Server reboots with error on booting saying cannot assign ip

This is driving me mad. How hard can it be?

Hi,

We have a messaging gateway 10.0.1 and require a TLS certificate to communicate to some of our customers. Currently we have a self signed cert. A new customer requires that we have a cert issued by a public CA.

My question is:

Will adding this extra cert break anything with any of our other customers currently using our self signed cert and can we have a self signed cert and public cert coexist?

Hello Everybody, I have two appliances one for Inbound and other for Outbound. I have problem with the outbound, when I Email these domains techsteelsac.com and traxys.com I have problems, in the first one appeasr this error "connection timed out; no servers could be reached" and in the second one the Email goes to the recipient but they take some time (15 or 20 minnutes aprox).

 

I was doing some tests with the first one using the NSLOOKUP tool and in the outbount appliance appears the error "connection..." and when I do the same test on the Inbound appliance it is being resolved.

Why, I don´t know.

Someone sent an email (external -> internal) with a 2MB attachment that is stuck (for a specific reason) in the delivery queue of one of our Brightmail boxes. I know the default queue size is 2MB. Can I increase the queue size? Would any issues or problems arise if it were increased? What are the steps to increase the queue size?

Need to enable ssl encryption for inbound mail

I need a solution

Hi,

I am using Symantec Messaging Gateway ver. 10.0.2-4 to accept inbound mail from the internet through port 25 and relay internally to our mail server. It works fine.

I tried to configure smartphones to send mail internally through SMG (using of course public ip address) and it works well on port 25.

The problem is that it works only without encryption.

I didn't find any way to enable the use of ssl.

I tried to enable "accept TLS encryption" in inbound email settings but when I try to setup the smartphone, the communcation fails (probably because SMG doesn't know credentials?)

Can you please help ?
