How to fully disable anti spam for single recipient internal company?

I need a solution

Hi everybody

We have a recipient in our company where we would like to completely disable checking for anti spam email sent to his account, how can I do this?
In other words, I want to disable the spam to the mailbox of a single user, so that it receive any and all email.

Buenas tardes, trabajo en un ISP y soy administrador del servidor de correo compartido, para varios dominio.

En los ultimos días symantec ha calificado mi ip con baja reputación, y esto ha ocacionado que los destinatarios quienes tienen el servicio de symantec gatway Messaging bloqueen los correo de nuestro servidor.

Debido a que allí se encuentran alojados varios dominios y el servidor no muestra comportamientos anormales (SPAM), no se cual es dominio o la causa extacta por la cual estoy siendo listado con baja reputación, me gustaria que el personal de security response me indicara cual es el dominio que genera spam, ante su sistema, para tomar medidas y evitar que esto suceda nuevamente.

Para obtener mayor informacion como direccion ip, etc, por favor contactarme via correo o por otro medio de los regitrados en sus bases de datos.

Esta situacion ya se ha presentado en 3 ocasiones y ya es un tema critico.

Intente comunicarme con Symantec response via telefonica, pero me indicaron que no era posible comunicarme por ese medio y rechazaron mi llamada.

Espero me ayuden brindandome informacion mas detallada.

Hi again!

I just configure a few domains as good senders so they are not barred from the antispam but some of these emails are still being barred. I want to check why these emails were stuck, there is some log or some option to show me this?

Messagin Gateway ver. 10 have ability to submit missed spam messages by uploading .eml files through the web-form.

Is there any variant to automate this function? For example to create folder in Linux where i can put several message files at once.

 

SMG Liveupdate failing

I need a solution

For the last 24 hrs, my virus def update has been failing intermittently on my SMG VM. It has failed every try for the last 12 hrs with:

The downloaded AntiVirus Definitions could not be validated.

I've had intermittent failures in the past but never for this long:

I am at version: 10.0.1-2 

Spam defs are up to date and Host status is all services running.

The our 10.0.2-4's SMG can not query the domain sanofi.com MX. But the DNS server are all working to get answers as well. The other DNS query also works in SMG hosts.

Too long the answer? SMG BUG?

When i run a nslookup utility on mailgw, i got this error msg:

I have a test instance of SBG gateway 8.0.3 and wanted to know as it is in isloated enviroment wanted to check on the ports to be opened for the gateway on the firewall.This is used only for incoming ONLY.

 

Ports Needs to be opened for Server to Internet ( Is port 25 Required for this )

Ports Needs to be opened for Internet to Server ( Have port 25 Allowed what apart from this port is allowed)

Recurring Bad IP Reputation

Hi,

I admin a server which has been running fine for 9  months, but 2 weeks ago started failing on sending emails to any hotmail addresses.

The server is not performing any spamming or bulk email activities at all - just the normal day-to-day activities of a real estate agent.

The Microsoft SNDS page informs that Brightmail is blocking with a bad IP reputation (5.77.49.11)

I've been through the FAQ and nothing is relevant. Basically I'm at a loss with this and losing business due to failing with all outbound emails to hotmail accounts.

 

My ISP is drawing a blank and I really need to resolve this - but as I'm not a symantec customer, I cannot get support via the normal support process despite spening an hour and a half on the phone

I'd be really grateful if someone could point me in the right direction to be able to speak to someone to get an insight on what I need to do to clear this up.

554 5.7.1 You are not allowed to connect error message

Hi there,

I am new to this community, but I'm reading similar thread related to the error message that I'm facing now with my SMG 10.0.2. I wasn't able to connect to the device whenever I attempt to telnet to its port 25 and keeps getting this, 554 5.7.1 "You are not allowed to connect" error message. I haved tried the suggested solution from other thread but it doesn't help. I check the logs and doesn't show anything on why the connection was drop. One more funny thing is that I can see the SMTP banner when I check it from mxtoolbox.com but if I telnet the device from public network I can't connect and see the banner. I'm unable to telnet the device from inside, using the local IP. Emails are also flowing in. It's just that I cant access the mail server outside of the corporate LAN.

Hope you guys could help me as I'm trying to fixed this issue for quite sometime already. All the necessary records that I need is already inplace.

SMG 10.0.1-2 Suspicious Url Content

Hello,

Our organization recently changed their outlook signatures to include links to online publications that have reviewed some of our recent projects. Immediately after, on certain occasions, when a user's outbound mail has been replied to, and occasionaly when emailing intra-office, SMG10 has been flagging messages as [Caution: Message contains suspicious url content], based off of the new links inserted into the user's signatures. I as of yet have been unable to reproduce the condition in which these are getting flagged, but the incidence directly corresponds to the addition of the URLs in the signatures. It is also my understanding that this filter is only supposed to scan for URL shortners, redirects, and known sites hosting malware, is that correct? If so, the URLs in question don't meet any of this criteria. 

Searching the forums has bore little fruit. Has anyone experienced issues such as these? Is this possibly something that could be/is addressed in 10.0.2-4? 

Please advise. 

Unable to retrieve ThreatCon level

We are running Symantec Mail Gateway 10.0.2-4 with 1 Control Cetner and 4 Scanners on VM. Initially we were able to see the ThreatCon level on the Control Center console. But I noticed recently it doesn't show up. When I checked BrightmailLog.log, I see "[BrightmailScheduler_Worker-44] ERROR - Connection to http://securityresponse.symantec.com refused", but I can ping to securityresponse.symantec.com from the control center.

I have restarted the controlcenter service and there are no proxy settings in our environment. Anybody has any idea?

Report for delivery failure

My company is sending promotion newsletter regularly via SMG. I'd like to compose a report about delivery failure and invalid recipient for the newsletter sender but I can't find a way to do so.

I tried to export audit logs in csv format, but to my surprise the delivery failures are not possible to be identified in the audit log csv format if there are multiple recipients in a single message. 

I've found this article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO53382 which may help:

Delivery failures are indicated with a Delivery Failure heading on the Audit Logs page in the Delivery section. In addition to being indicated on the Audit Logs page, undelivered messages are logged with the new DELIVERY_FAILURE audit log event. DELIVERY_FAILURE events are logged in the following format:utc|uid|DELIVERY_FAILURE|recipient|reason

However I don't know where I can find the events described above.

Cannot upgrade SMG scanner to 10.0.2-4

When I try do download 10.0.2-4 on my SMG scanner with web and CLI I recevice this error:

SMG and personal white\blacklists

Hi there, I seem to be having issues with personal white\blacklists as in they don't actually appear to enforce. As far as I can tell from the admin guide, it's just a case of having my AD set up within SMG, and then enabling it in the default policy. So I added in my personal gmail account to the blacklist and sent myself an email... But I recieved it. Added it to the "local" blacklist, it got nuked... So it's pretty much just ignoring the personal blacklists.

Any ideas as to why this would be happening?

I will like to deploy a Symantec Messaging Gateway 10.0 behind a TMG with this scenario to replace a panda Gate Defender appliance already installed

 

symantec Messaging Gateway 10.0 VM already installed in a VMWare ESXi

Two Virtual NICS one connected to my TMG and another to my Core Switch

Mail Serves (One external located outside in a service Provider) with ex. SMTP mail.mycompany.com another internal just for LAN mail Exchange flow, with SMTP mail.mycompany.local

I just want to filter Incoming email from my external mail Server, for now

 

Can anyone help me with the configuration for this scenario about networking (routing) and message filtering configuration

SMG - problem with update to 10.0.2-4 from 10.0.1-2

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with update SMG to new version. I have two scanners with public IP which can download new version but Control Center in internal network can't do this because can't view and accept Update Description (0.png in attachment).

I think that it's proxy server, because when I don't enter proxy setting and try update Control Center via comandline it's take long time and give error (1.png in attachment). When I enter proxy settings (also credentials) it's give error that required credentials to autenticated (2.png in atachment).In this time attempt to update also get error (1.png in attachment)  but faster like Control Center get answer from proxy that it's can't autenticated.

Anyone can help?

My proxy use ntlm2 autentication so please let me know if SMG support this?
