It seems the list of IPs/domains in "outbound message acceptance" is limited to 10 entries. If you try and enter more it always cuts them back to a maximum of 10. Tried entering manually or using the import option.
Any way around this limit?

Hi.
I have update our Symantec Messaging Gateway to 10.5
We have 1 Control Center and 2 Scanner.
Now, the two scanner alert me that are new version available but Control Center not show anything.
I try to check update from command line but that show me an I/O error (see in attachment).
How can i do? please it's urgent.

Hi,
Can anyone help me for config of NDR policy for when "NDR will generate than send it to on dedicate mail id which i define". thus can check all of the NDR mails in single mail id.
I try some policy but still not completely work...
I was going through some SMG documentation and realised it was a best practice to have one control center per location if you have scanners in different locations. If I have a scanner and control center at my head office and the same thing at my disaster recovery site, can I add both scanners to both control centers? What is the best way to handle that kind of redundancy? If one control center goes down, can the other take over?
Hi there,
In the report from Symantec messaging gateway, top senders outbound im noticing some addresses i do not reconize and might be spammers on our network.
I would like to block some senders from sending mail to outbound, how can i do this? Can i do this with "local bad sender domains" or is this for inbound?
Thanks,
LEVD
We are attempting to deliver emails to several organizations that are deferring our attempts. Error/defer message is "450 4.3.2 please try later".
These are email newsletters that are opt-in.
I checked the sending IP here http://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/lookup/ and the IP does not have a bad reputation.
When receiving the 450 message we retry in 60 minutes.
I've seen some indication that this error is returned when an attempted directory harvest attack is suspected. However - we have very clean lists...
Since there are multiple organizations throwing this same error - and we've identified the Symantec Messaging Gateway as the origin - we must be on some type of block list.
I could not find an appropriate support form or email address for deliverability issues.
Any insight or thoughts or suggestions from anybody?
Thanks
Hi ,
Currently I receive complain from user that they can not receive email from other people. I login to my Symantec Messaging Gateway and check the log. i notice that unscanable and message delete.
The email is not spam and does not contain virus. Why my symantec messaging gateway show me malformed_mine?
Is there any solution for it?
Hello,
We are trying to move from 10.0.3 (physical appliance) to 10.5.1 (2008 Hyper-V).
Whenever we tried it in the appliance and hyper-v (10.0.3 installation) in command line, we received following error.
"Exiting: This hardware model is no longer supported. Please review this KB <http://entced.symantec.com/entt?product=BrightmailGateway&version=10.0.3&language=english&module=update&error=1&build=symantec_ent> for more information."
The link says that the command line should allow us to upgrade, but I received the error message.
What's the proper way to perform upgrade from 10.0.3 to 10.5.1?
Can we import 10.0.3 full backup configuration in 10.5.1?
We always thought that we should match the OS version to restore full configuration.
Thank you,
SMG version: 10.5.1-2
Hello,

Hi!
I need some help about how to configure the scenario below:
I have SMG ver.10.0.1-2 for inbound mail filtering only.
I have 2 external web servers who sends emails with my mail domain to non-local domain recipients.
My idea, if is possible, is configure the SMG with some rule that accept inbound mails from the IPs of external web servers, and redirect to my internal exchange server, from where this messages will be sended to the recipients.
At this moment when I try it, SMG reject the message with this action error:
All recipients are invalid. Message rejected for non-local recipient.
Is my idea possible? Please could somebody help me?
Thanks in advance!
Dear whom may concern,
I have received an information to upgrade to 10.5.0-11 from SMG.
When I press "View Description Button" ,it do not show any information in the popup screen (Update Description), they are blank!!!
And I try to press 'Download Only' or 'Install', they display message below.
"Please read the corresponding description before continuing with the software update."
How I can do ?
Hi,
Im starting a new thread because i dont have a solution to my old thread yet.
In my report for top senders outbound im noticing some unknown senders with unknown domains, i would like to know how i can block this senders or this behaviour.
My exchange is open, so everything send to Exchange is delivered to the SMG and SMG accepts messages from my Exchange and sends them to internet.
Can i simply add the domains to the "local bad sender domains" will this work for outbound messages?
Do i need to enable outbound spam scanning?
Can i track a outbound senders IP so i can see which machine is doing this on my network.
Some help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello everyone,
I received some spam which then lead me to notice that the last SPAM definitions on my brightmail happened 19 hours ago.
I cannot reach aztec.brightmail.com from the brightmail or any machine inside my network. I ever tried from another geographic location but still could not reach it.
Can someone confirm if they are facing something similar,
Thanks for the help,
I was assigned to monitor the email flow of my company, the default policies to filter spam will label a spam header to the email if particular has spam content. However, how do you know it is a false alarm or not? Currently, to check the email source, I will trace the domain host and IP with MXtoolbox( you can search google for it). However, sometimes this MXtoolbox will detect the domain host as spam but not the corresponding IP. The IP could not be found but the domain host is exist. I want to know is there any better way to determine whether an email is spam. Thanks
Hi,
I have 30K+ mailboxes and i am going to install Messaging Gateway 8380 Appliance as 2 Scanner for inbound and 2 Scanner for Outbund. Now my question is can i use thses 4 scanners as an inbound / outbound scanner ? means each scanner has to be configure as a inbound / outbound role. or as i have 30K+ mailboxes so i cannot use both roles in a same scanner appliance. Kindly advise.
Regards,
Sajid

Hello,
I have been getting Spam from various SMTP domains, but they all seem to come from the same ISP when I look at the header in Outlook. I was wondering if I could block the ISP instead of the individual SMTP domains that the spam is comming from, and if so, how. This is on Message Gateway 10.5.1-2.
Thanks!
On Symantec Messaging Gateway product page http://www.symantec.com/en/uk/messaging-gateway/sy... is information about Hyper-V edition. Where could I find it?
On fileconnect service I've found image for VMware but for Hyper-V is not appear there.
Where could I download Hyper-V image for Symantec Messaging Gateway from?
Martin.
