I have a question about Symantec Messaging Gateway.
One of our applications sends a lot of e-mail and so has a lot of connections to our SMTP gateway, it seems the gateway blocks this connection after several connection attempts because its marked as spam.
Can i configure somewhere that connections from this IP are allowed?

Hi All,
I have only one symantec brightmail gateway. When the server has some issue and I have to troubleshoot on it and the sever have to shut down, the user could not send and receive email. I want to find out any solution, so I can let user send and receive email without interrupt when I troubleshooting the brightmail gateway issue. Is anyone know any solution to fix the issue? Can I setup two brightmail gateway, so one of them has a problem, Second one still work? Thanks.
I use VMwave ESX server 3i as a host, Symantec brightmail gateway is a virtual server.

Working on implementing Symantec Messaging Gateway to provide some additional filtering to Exchange 2013 (small office).
I have 3 basic questions:
1 - I see the requirements state 4GB RAM. How strict is this requirement? Can it be run in a 2GB RAM for a small office? What are the downsides of giving SMG too little RAM? Slow message processing? Anything else?
2 - If our Exchange server goes down, does the SMG queue up email being received until Exchange is back up? If so, how much email can be queued? Just disk-space limited?
3 - When using recipient lookup via our AD server, what happens if our AD server goes down or connectivity to our AD server is somehow impeded? Are all emails rejected or do all emails pass through the recipient lookup filter?

We are facing an issue of outgoing mail spoofing,
example:
Genuine outgoing mail domain: @mycompany.com
Spoof outgoing mail domain: @Microsoft.com
We wanted to block those spoof mails on SMG which are going outside other than @mycompany.com.

Estou com um spam que não esta sendo barrado pelas regras de bad sender. Coloquei tanto o dominio como o endereço no bad sender, e possuo uma regra que bloqueia qualquer e-mail que inclua "List-Unsubscribe" porém ele continua passando.
Segue o e-mail em anexo, alguem tem alguma idéia de alguma maneira de bloquear?

In the Messages Audit Log, what is the correct syntax to query the subject line?
Is there any Wildcard Charactere * % .
Single Quote
Double Quote
AND OR
Let say I want to find all email having this exact subject "This a test"
How can I do it?
Right now it seems that it doesn't take the double quote, so I had to type
this is a test
but it look like it us OR because it return message having one of this word but not the extact subject

For some domain we need to require receiving/sending with TLS.

The two are somewhat contradictory.
How do you achieve this?

I have downloaded
- Install guide.
- Admin Guide.
After referring docs mentioned above i got an idea like this appliance has something to do on perimeter level.
1 - I am bit confused like how the physical connectivity of this hardware will be?
2 - Since its on Perimeter level will it be installed after Router or will be connected to switch ?
3 - What will be the network cabling structure in case of above or in case when any firewall is placed.?
Basically i am looking for a Diagramatic flow of Emails via this Appliance.
Appreciate your valuable advice.

Hello All,
I have freshly installed Symantec_Messaging_Gateway_OSrestore_10.5.1-2_Linux_Int.iso in my Virtual envoirment ESXi ( 5.5.0 , 1331820). After Configuring it it in the CLI when the machine is rebooted the control center service fails to start and as a result I am unable to service it in the web browser. Is this version of SMG not supported with this particular version of ESXi ? Please find the attached screenshot.

I have searched for a long time on all the internal and external resources but am failing to find specific instructions.
Are they designed to be teamed? If so, how is this configured?

I have been reading tons about the big Open SSL vulnerability. From what I have read on the symantec site, this vulnerability did not affect the Symantec Web Gateway or Messaging gateway. So both those servers were not at risk and no action is needed by customers? I just want to make sure of this?

We are using Messaging gateway virtual appliance 10.0.2-4 and want to updgarde our Exchange server to Exchange 2013. Please let me know if it is compitable.
Also Domain functional level will be raised to windows server2008 R2, need to check the bright mail compatibility, current domain functional is windows server 2003
