Per-Domain reports?

I need a solution

Is there any way to run a report on spam received for particular domains? We have a lot going through our gateway and are in the process of releasing some of the domains.

I'd like to see which ones receive a lot of spam so i can remove them if they are not required.

Could this also be done by policy group?

Global Deployment - Control Centre Best Practice

Hi,

We currently have four datacentres (two primary and two secondary), which are spread across two continents. Each datacentre has an inbound and outbound SMTP gateway

What is the best approach for dploying the Control Centre, as I understand you can only have one per cluster? Is it recommended to have a single Control Centre in the main datacentre, or deploy a Control Centre per database/continent.

SMG Appliance 8380 and Traffic Shaper

I need a solution

Hi,

I have 2 symantec Traffic Shapper with old Brightmail Appliance. we have 30K mailboxes and the Spam ratio is 70% in our environment. We have 2 inbound and 2 outbound scanner with Virtual Control center. 

I want to upgrade Brightmail appliance to SMG Appliace 8380. I came to know that with 8380 Appliance we dont need Traffic Shaper because the new SMG 8380 Appliance good enough to manage network & Spam traffic.

Kinldy let me know should i keep Traffic Shaper with the new Appliance 8380 in our environment???

If yes so is there any documnet in which this statement is written that we dont need traffic shapper with the new SMG 8380 Appliance?

The Verdict is deliver normal

In the field "from" it shows none the brightmail scans forwarded outgoing emails.

The field none appears only in the outgoing emails when I am forward from an internal email address(DOMINO)  to email external.
Anyone came up with the same situation?

I want to upgrade all the appliace from version 10.0.3-3 to version 10.5.1-2. How to do it and what is the recommendate steps?

Dears

I have a problem to whiltelist some domain for scanning malware, spam, content.  what i did as below....

  1. Create new policy group for that domain such as (abc.com)
  2. In Malware policy, I create new policy to bypass all content filtering, Bypass spam scanning follow by my conditions, then apply with that policy group.

The result is my mail was in default rule in default policy

 

The question is....

  • Is the malware policy work in Top-down order?

              If it top-down

                       How to set the ordering of malware policy?

                       If it match with the rule it will continue to scan another mail or not?

  • There is another way to set whilelist as mention above?

avoop server error

Hi, I've two Symantec Messaging Gateway servers; one 10.0.3-3 and one 10.5.1-2 version.

Sometimes the first, sometime the second one but never at the same time, one of them present the following message error:
avoop: a connection to the avoop server could not be established (#13019).

This usually occurs sporadically, maybe twice a month.

I've not detected any problem with the service, but I would like to know what is avoop server, or the meaning of this error. Is it critical?

My comany just bought a new SMG with version 10.5.1-2.

SMG was configured but something strange in message queues log shown above.

mails sent from pipinge30@raveisre.com to several internal recipients (some recipients' addresses aren't available) were routed to the IP address 192.168.100.19 which isn't in the range of my internal network. My internal sub-network is 192.168.1.0/24.

These mails may be considered as spam mails, but why does SMG try to route these mails to that IP address? Is there any configuration wrong in SMG?

Any information, help would be appreciated!

 

 

Can't sending emails to hotmail for Symantec block list

Hello there,
 

We cannot sending emails to hotmail from our IP addresses.

Coming error message for " hotmail block list " I'm asked that problem to hotmail sender information center.

That personals send to me an response. That response is : We have forwarded the issue  with IP( X.X.X.X/24 ) to Symantec and that we need to wait for them to finish their investigation. An estimated time of 5 business days will be needed to complete their investigation.

But that problem is passing 10 DAYS. This message is sended to me 12.03.2014 but today 21.03.2014 We are still not sending mails to @hotmails mail addreses.

What should I do for resolve this?

Installing SMG 10.5 on Vmware ESXi 5.1

I need a solution

Hi,

 

I want to install SMG 10.5 on vmware. I tried to deploy the OVF files but the scanner and control center come with 90Gb disk size. The recommendation in the Guide talk about 120GB.

So I looked at the step to install it from the ISO disk and I have some question. I will install it on vmware 5.1

-should I stay with Virtual Machine Version 7 ?

-For the OS, the Guide talk about choosing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (32 bits) ? Is that ok? The OVF are Linux 64 bits

-Ethernet Adapter, E1000 or vmxnet2 ?

- LSI SAS SCSI device for the disk?

 

I found the guide more specific to ESX 4.x than ESXi 5.x so if you have tips for ESXi 5.x I will take it

P.S. I will have 1300 users. I plan to have 2 scanners and 1 Control Center. Maybe 90Gb is enough?

Dear Symantec frends,

We are looking for the SDK API files for Symantec Messaging Gateway (windows)
In the documentation we find info that it should be located in the BSDK folder, but we have never seen nore heard about this folder.
We would like to create a .net program to fill in the domains and there routes.

Hello

I'm new user of latest SMG. I know that in Status>Message Audit Logs I should be able to get it, but I got only warning "The mandatory filter value cannot be empty for this filter type." When type "*" in this filed I got nothing.

I'd like to get list of all emails that passes my device, how to do that?

Greetings,

 

A new Exchange Server deployment, replacing the option of Edge Role Server, by Symantec Gateway "BrightMail", how to achieve High-Availability with this appliance? as long as one appliance will be deployed?

in case of Edge Servers, two Edge Servers will be placed with DNS MX Record configured at ISP with Round Robin (RR) pointing to Edge Servers IP Address.

So, how can I Acieve such High-Availability with Symantec Appliance?

Mail Domain Change

Hi,

Currently we are using tvsmotor.co.in as our mail domain..i.e name@tvsmotor.co.in

but we have bought one more new domain tvsmotor.com, the same has been added as approved domains in exchange.

But when we send mails from outside, it is not delivering, whether we need to do any changes in gateway to accept mails to this new domain

please do the needful

Hi guys,

i got this issue, that a lot of email coming from this particular domain being delay to reach to our user. when i check in the SMG, i got from the action taken "abort message (message timed out)"

can we get any help on this?
