problem in mail routing on symantec messaging gateway

Hi all,

I am new to symantec messaging gateway, i need a help regarding mail routing on SMG, i configured send and recevive connectors in exchange 2016 installed on win 2012r2, in SMG also i add the exchange ip addres i inbound mail acceptance and outbound mail acceptance, still i am not getting any message audit logs in SMG, i followed symantec messaging gateway admin guide, please help to mail route on symantec messageing gateway to exchange 2016(here i am not useing office 365)

bleow i send my config file what i am do in my test lab, please check that file, if i do any worng please send the soluation

Hello,

My SMG (10.6.4) doesn't take correct credentials on proxy settings.

I checked on proxy (ISA) logs and I see that SMG try to connect on http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com ... with anonymous user which is not correct.

I don;t know if there is a specifically  format about user/credentials , as example I configured proxy  with:

Proxy host name:

  proxy_ip
Proxy host port:
 8080
User name (if required):
 domain\user
Password (if required):
 xxxxxx
 
but SMG can not see correctly and translate as anonymous.
 
Eror: The proxy server requires credentials. Please check the proxy server credential settings.
 
I don't know if I can config proxy through CLI

I need a solution

Hello everyone

I have last version SMG 10.6.4.-3 on several customer locations. 

I'm detecting a bug when I choose action in bad/good sender group.

For example, in Reputation-BadSenders I choose Action "Hold message in spam quarantine".

When I add any action, I get the following error message "The application encountered an error. If you are the administrator, please check the log files for details." ...

Does anyone know for this issue, and how to resolve this?

SMG does not respond to Port 587 Traffic.

SMG Version 10.6.4.3

SMG does not respond to telnet on port 587

* Firewall ports are open.
* SMTP Authenication is enabled
* Authentication is set to :

    - use a Virtual IP (10.0.0.20) on port 587, the virtual ip is on the same interface as the interface used on the outbound interface (10.0.0.10).

    - Accept authenticated mail connections from all IP addresses and domains
    - Accept TLS encryption + a valid certificate.
    - Uses a LDAP server (An authentication server is required for this feature)

If i run a 

            * Telnet 10.0.0.10 25 : it Respnds like it should.
            * Telnet 10.0.0.20 587 : it Instantly rejects the session:

I can see in the firewall logs that it tries to connect,  but the SMG just ignores everything on port 587.

Should it not responde to a telnet on port 587, like https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH240067.html says it should. ?

Any ideas to what i am doing wrong here, i have been through all the Symantic info i could find on the subject.

I need a solution

I am having a problem when sending any e-mails to a specific domain (only that domain).

The message is quied with the error "454 4.7.1<---@---.com>: relay access denied"

All search results are talking about SMTP settings which I double check it, and it is all correct. Any ideas?

Virus and SPAM filtering has automatically disabled in SMG due to licence expired, Is possible to re-enable the virus and spam fitering in SMG for temporary?

Hi,

I have emails on my quarantine, for which the domain has changed. For example email was sent to jdevi@xxx.com, but domain has changed to jdevi@yyy.com. The emails are stuck in the quarantine. Is there a way within SMG to change the email address?

Also how can I export Domains list (Protocols>SMTP>Domains)?

hello dear technicals,

i have Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) Virtual Appliance,

i added my domain through "Active Directory with Global Catalog"

also i added my local-mail-delivery with IP-Entry (local-mail-delivery is not MX Record)

my mail server's are Exchange DAG, 

i read every best practice, forum's, KB's, Admin Guide and more about SMG, Exchange, Active Drectory

my configurations are good and standard,

but when i want to releasing a spam, it take long time (10 ~ 15 minutes)

i checked every solutions, and also my configuration are good

please help me...

Blocking inbound mail addressed to specific distribution lists

I need a solution

We have several distribution lists in our Exchange environment where we want restrict delivery from the outside world as these distribution lists are only for internal use.

Currently in Symantec Messaging Gateway we have directory integration turned on, enable cache persistence turned on, enable distribution list expansion turned off, and preserve recipient address turned off. 

To exclude the distribution list we have created a “Policy Group” that contains the email address of the lists concerned.

Then we created a content filtering rule for this group, with the appropriate actions (sender notifications, deleting the message...).

When sending a message from outside to the restricted distribution list, the message is deleted and the sender notified.

However, then, all mails sent directly to a user who is a member of the restricted list are also rejected by content filtering.

We tried to turn on “Preserve recipient address” …unsuccessful.

Members of restricted lists can no longer receive mail when the rule is enabled.

How can we do to ensure that only messages to the restricted list are rejected and not all messages to members of this list?

Can someone give me a solution on this, please?

Hello everyone,

I just have a small query and would appreciate if you can kindly comment on it. We have a content filtering policy in SMG that is basically blocking an inbound email sent from outside  using the internal domain ( preventing email spoofing).  However I want to exclude one specific external domain from this rule. If I add that domain or its IP address under local good sender domain or IP, would it bypass any content filtering processing for this particular sending domain or IP?

I need to have a active copy of  the virtual SMG in a DR Site (without control center). Do I need to purchase additional licenses for the 2nd SMG?

Hello, I'm looking for help with SMG. We have one domain, which is important to be a good sender. This domain is marked as "This is not spam" and also as "good sender", but is still falls into quarantine SMG. Any advice? Thanks. Paul
