I need a solution

I am running the above version and going through my C&A process. I have the following Retina CAT 1 finding for SSH:

TITLE: OpenSSH Multiple Vulnerabilities (200609)
DESCRIPTION:OpenSSH contains multiple vulnerabilities within the GSSAPI authentication implementation that could allow remote attackers to determine the validity of usernames, crash the SSH daemon (i.e. denial of service condition), or potentially execute arbitrary code. Note: This audit is for versions of OpenSSH obtained from OpenSSH.org and may report false findings with vendor specific backports.

Is the appliance for this version of OpenSSH updateable?

I need a solution

Hi,

Since some time I am having lots of email with sender (none) and Authenticated username (none), problem is that mail is being delivered to users.

How can I stop these emails from being delivered?

SMG - How to bypass all of the filtering?

I need a solution

Hi,

How to bypass any filtering done by SMG? I want every mail(spam/no spam || Inbound/outbound) from/to my mail server without being filtered by SMG.

I just want to try the filtering capabilities of other products.

Please help me.

Hi Experts

 

hope all are doing well

 

I have setup Messaging gateway 10.0.1 as intial implementation

with following details

 

DMZ-- i will put it later

1Eth0- with local ip

default spam filtering rules

content policy for media n exe files

 

as of now Outbound is working fine ,as for inbound i haven't performed the Natting port 25

i want to know it there any any ports required except 25 .

please advice this architecture is fine ,or do i have to add one more Eth card with inbound or public ip

Problem with Messaging Gateway- release mails on Spam Quarantine

I need a solution

Hi, I've an issue with Symantec Messaging Gateway, it happened when I try to release any mails on spam quarantine.

Tool waiting for 5 minutes aproximattely and then, the error message is:

"Cannot release the message. It has either been released already or a delivery error occurred. Please check Brightmail Log for details."
 
I want to say that performance it's ok, CPU usage, RAM, swap, disk space...

SMG: Scanner error "agent running on xx.xx.xx.xxx is temporarily unavaiable"

"agent running on xx.xx.xx.xxx is temporarily unavaiable... Please check the specified host ; nested execption is ; org.apache.http.conn.ConnectTimeoutException: connect to /xx.xx.xx.xx:41002 timed out"

 

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the scanner ip....

 

Any idea what this error means? Does it related to NATing?

 

Seems the agent service intermittently up and down.... we rebooted the appliance... same

With TLS enabled, email headers read: Client did not present certificate

I need a solution

I have enabled TLS on my virtual appliances which run 10.0.1-2.  One control center /scanner and the other is scanner only.  I have 3rd party certs from digitcert installed on the appliance and have checked off on the appliances to offer my certificate upon delivery.  Is my certificate installed incorrectly?  When I installed the cert it stated: "Cannot build a trusted certificate chain for the certificate. Please make sure that you have added all the necessary CA certificates."  Thanks.

Hello,

I'm having problems with the identification of invalid recipient in the SMG, there is an alias to an account with a domain to another account with a different domain, integration tests SMG located the two accounts, and recognizes the existence of the alias that was created, but the e-mail sent still receiving invalid recipient classification and are rejected.

This only occurs with only one e-mail an another account with the same features can receive e-mail that is sent to it without problems.

Without the invalid recipient function for the domain account with the problem it receives emails normally.

Hi guys,

In the last weekend I enabled feature Customer-specific Spam in my enviroment. And saw that now we have buttom Submit Messages, ok. So now I have a doubt:

 

When I submit message for analysys I saw that is created body hashes for my submition, well. This body hashes are GLOBAL or only for my enviroment?

If not, do you have some usefull articles how to configure SNMP properly on both ends? - SCOM and SMG?

SMSME 6.5 - Error 514

I am getting event ID 514 errors on a couple of our AV servers.  the description is  ERROR '[Brightmail] (ERROR:1084.1092):[12034] Network error occurred, unable to set private key file 'C:\program files\symantec\smssmtp\etc\cert.perm' type PEM

 

(58), check your network connection settings, check your proxy settings (if applicable), and check to ensure that port 443 (HTTPS) is open through any relevant firewalls.

 

 

 

I have seen some knowledge on the 514 error, but nothing that pertains exactly to the description.  The version has not been upgraded recently (at least not to my knowledge) so I am not sure that the 514 error issue that references the bmiconfig.xml file is valid.  If anyone has any other ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Folks,

I have a small query regarding blocking emails from external domains to enter an Internal Distribution List. Simply wants to block all the Incoming emails from anyother Domains apart from local Domain. Any Idea how to configure???

I could not find anything on the Admin Guide. Waiting for your valuable responses.

Hi,

Now we are demo testing at customer's site.

They have Exchange 2010 and SMG is Integreated AD for Notify distribution lists.

Custmer want to change font in Notify distribution lists.

SMG version is 10.0.1-2.

Is it possible??? I can't find any information at KB.

I heard that old version of SMG, it is possible.

Messaging gateway -Abort message (message timed out)

I need a solution

Hi,

I am having a strange problem only with 1 sender. The sender who works at a bank sends bank stuff every end of month. Every end of month, I get error message Abort message (message timed out); it is only after I have increased the Inbound SMTP Configuration 'Session Timeout' that mail is received. The email is less than 200k. Due to this problem, every end of month I am having to increase the Session Timeout by 5 minutes; today itself I had to set it to 35 minutes.

Where does the problem come from? What can I do to address the problem once for all? Is there like a maximum time for the 'Session Timeout'?

Configuring Email address masquerading in SMG 9.5

Hi,

We have a need to change the email address of an inbound message from an external company to a different email address.  

Example:

the external email arives at the gateway as service@externalcompany.com, this should be changed to service@internalcompany.com and delivered to the user as normal.  The user should only ever see the @internalcompnay.com suffix and if they reply they would be replying to this address also.

Is this possible to achieve with Email address masquerading or is this purley for externally bound email?

Any help greatly appreciated! :-)

Brightmail Rule filter not working

Hi,

i created one rule in brightmail to quarantine mails, but the problem is mails are getting quarantined, but the second rule appending the discalimer is now working.

if i disable the quarantine rule and sent the mails means, the disclaimer is working.

my rule precedence is having some issue..i need both my quarantine and legal disclaimer rule should work.

how to acheive this.

SMG: Content filtering notifcation failed to send to internal user

Any idea whr to check?

From the CC at brightmail.log, i saw no error.... also on content filtering rule... the rule looks ok

 

Basically they're sending a notification to internal sender who send more than certain size of email... (5mb) then quarantine them

 

Sender from external has no issue... managed to get notification

Any idea if this just a temporary error?

We did MX lookup test on a external domain from the appliance, seems ok... managed to resolve it and do a telnet test
